COLLEGE ROAD

The redevelopment of this infill site provided both challenges and opportunities.  The context on the north aspect of the site necessitated tying in with adjoining two storey traditional properties.  The Southern aspect provided several opportunities, firstly the views onto Lough Atalia and the solar gain. Also as the site was falling away, the opportunity existed to provide 3 floors to this part of the building.

The resulting building presents a fairly traditional front to College Road, but this opens up dramatically once inside to provide a split level building; with the floors opening off an open stair which is top lit. The Southern façade and most of the South facing roof is glazed to capitalize on the view and maximise solar gain.

With the low E glass, argon filled units, passive solar gain solar panels for hot water/heating and high standards of insulation this is another low energy consumption building
